With October finally here and Halloween fast approaching, now is the best time to start looking for your signature spooky decoration this season. 

Ayrshire has dozens of pumpkin patches throughout the region making it a great place to source homegrown jack-o-lanterns for your front steps. 

From Ayr to Kilwinning, here are 4 of the best and closest pumpkin farms in and around the Shire.

4 - The Manor House

The Manor House is hosting a pick-your-own pumpkin patch as well as a spooky maze.

The pumpkin patch and maze will be open from 11:30 am to 3:30 pm.

Running from October 23 to 28 the Kilwinning event will be ticketed, with costs ranging from £3.50 to £6.

3 - Drumboy Camping

Drumboy Camping is offering everyone the opportunity to pick their own pumpkin ahead of Halloween.

On top of pumpkin picking, there is also a spooky Halloween mystery box, face painting, and a bouncy castle among many other things!

The pumpkin event will run from October 15 to October 23.

2 - Alton Villa Activities

Alton Villa Activities, located near Kilmarnock, now has a pumpkin patch open to the public during the weekends.

The farm allows you to pick your own pumpkins, with an entry fee of only £2.

The price of pumpkins can vary with a small one being £5, a medium being £8, and a large being £10-£12.

The picking events will last from October 14 to October 23 on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays.

1 - October at Heads of Ayr Farm Park

Heads of Ayr Farm Park is hosting its very own spooky pumpkin patch event this month.

Its pumpkin patch and other October activities are an excellent family day out, offering a Halloween experience full of animals and outdoor adventure! 

Families can pick their own pumpkins while letting the kids have fun in the Play n' Wild Indoor Adventure Barn among many other fun activities.

The event is running from October 20 to October 24 and costs £12.00 for a child between the ages of 2 and 16, and £14.00 per adult.
