A NASA astronaut touched base at Glencairn Primary School in Stevenston. Dr Bonnie Dunbar, who has orbited the earth more than 800 times and travelled more than 20 million miles, visited the school as guests of the Scottish Space Foundation.
The principal prizewinners at Troon’s Marr College in 2003 are pictured with head teacher George Bone.
Children in New Cumnock were celebrating the return of their play park - two years after it was declared unsafe and torn down. The Knockshinnoch Park was restored by a community campaign, led by the B741 Action Group, which raised £32,000.
An exhibition of mosaic art created by talented youngsters from the Westoaks area of Dalmilling was held in the John Pollock Centre. The Westoaks Tenants Association presented Provost Gordon McKenzie with a mosaic created by seven-year old Tiffany Hetherington for display in the County Buildings in Ayr.
The eco committee at Winton Primary in Ardrossan were making their mark in a Euro-wide project. Headteacher Sue McKenzie is pictured with the school’s new Silver Award and Councillor Peter McNamara.
Kelloholm’s 2003 Gala Queen Billie Duffy was crowned by Kelloholm Primary head-teacher William McLarty.
