Ayr tennis star Nicola Slater featured in the Ladies Doubles tournament at Wimbledon in 2012. The 28 year old and partner Liza Whybourne were narrowly defeated in the first round. She said: “We played well and were four points away from winning the match. It was close the whole way.”

North Ayrshire Council leader Willie Gibson and Saltcoats and Councillor Ronnie McNicol dropped by Evolution Skate Park in Stevenston to officially hand over new bikes for the park. These were purchased thanks to a grant from the local authority.

A new green space for dementia patients was unveiled at Cumnock Community Hospital got a little bit greener in July 2013. Pattie Kewney of Failford House held a fundraiser to help get the garden finished off and is pictured here with Lainie McLeod (left), a charge nurse on the ward.

ANNBANK became a sea of colour for the village’s annual gala in July 2012. The Royal Party were escorted in a vintage car while children had their faces painted during the gala last month.

The P7 pupils from St Luke’s Primary School in Kilwinning enjoyed their end of year awards ceremony in 2012.

A FORMER Lugar Primary pupil had her long-awaited date with the Queen in July 2013. Maureen Lorimer, accompanied by husband David, collected her well-deserved MBE at a ceremony at Holyrood Palace in recognition for her service to Special Education.
