The organisers of Ayr's annual flower show have revealed full details of the popular event set to take place later this summer.

The Ayr & District Flower Show will be open from 10am to 5pm on Saturday, August 19 and Sunday, August 20 at Ayr Racecourse.

The majority of the show is under cover so even on a typical Ayrshire day the show can still be enjoyed. Tickets are available for £7 at the gate, with children under 16 free. Parking is also free.

A spokesperson said: "Ayr & District Flower Show will be back for a fifth year. We are the only flower show to remain in Ayr.

"With a wide range of flowers, vegetables, fruit, baking, handicraft and junior classes on show, there will be plenty of exhibits to admire over the two days.

This year we will be joined by the Scottish Association of Flower Arrangement Societies "who will stage their Floral Art Show entitled ‘A Perfect Day’.

"Schedules have been sent out and we are now waiting for the exhibitors to send in their entry forms. That is one thing we have no control over its up to you so get those entries in."

As in previous years there will be no charge to enter exhibits. Children will receive prize money in the Junior Section but for adults, instead of money, an engraved keepsake will be presented for the best exhibit in each section.

The spokesperson continued: "Come along and see the eye-catching exhibits and be sure to bring your pennies to browse the garden and craft stalls. You will be able to buy everything from candles, jewellery, artwork and ceramics to plants, garden furniture and much more besides.

"There will be a variety of musical entertainment throughout each day, so bring your dancing shoes."

More information can be found at www.ayranddistrictflowershow.com or follow the show via their Facebook page.

The spokesperson added: "Please be aware there is no flower show taking place at Rozelle and is not associated in any way with us.

"We look forward to seeing you at Ayr Racecourse."
