AYR teenager Claire Ward, 19, was heading off to the United States after securing a four-year football scholarship.
Former Queen Margaret Academy pupil Claire, who played for Ayr United Ladies, was hand picked after showing off her football prowess during a game with the Scotland under-19 team in Germany.

The Boswell Arms Sunday football team raised £200 for the Lisalanna initiative in Cumnock.
