August 2003 in South Ayrshire saw a whole lot of summer fun, with galas and some great events for the kids.

BUMPER crowds of youngsters converged on Ayr’s Old Racecourse for the two-day Land O’Burns Cup and Sevens Soccer Festival. Pictured are some of the age 10 and 11 players showing off their medals.
AYR Fire Station’s Blue Watch held a charity car wash in aid of Malcolm Sargent House in Prestwick. The event proved a huge success, with a tremendous £540 raised towards the local charity’s funds.
KIDS managed to combine football with fun learning in Dalrymple. Learn Through Football ran for three days, with youngsters flitting between the football field and the classroom.
Ayr United’s striker Stewart Kean is pictured signing an autograph for 10-year-old Alastair.
Marilyn Monroe lookalike Fiona Rae made a grand entrance to open the 2003 Dunure Harbour Gala Day. It was a fun-filled day which saw record crowds and organisers raised £5,000 thanks to stalls, raffles and games. The Gala Queen was nine-year-old Cheryl Closs, pictured below.
