SENIOR Prestwick Academy Business Management and Young enterprise students took part in a stimulating Business Dynamics course held at Links Road in September 2003.
The Ayr Advertiser officially celebrated 200 years of publication in 2003 with a day at Ayr Races. Guests and colleagues joined Clyde and Forth Press Ltd chief executive Mrs Deirdre Romanes for a celebration lunch and afternoon’s racing on the second day of the Ayr Gold Cup meeting.
Highlight of the afternoon was the Ayr Advertiser 200th Anniversary Fillies Handicap run over a mile and two furlongs. It was won by 8-1 shot Rani 2.

Carrick Chess Club was back in full swing again in September 2003, meeting on Wednesdays at the town hall. Our picture shows members Olivia, Sophie, Andrew T, Ali, Kenneth, Daniel, Georgia, Andrew W, sitting - Vincent & Alice.
IT was a sizzler of a day for this group of staff from Ailsa Hospital in September 2003. Tom and Lesley Morris, Rob Stobbs and Dale Caddis, who all work in hotel services, got into the spirit of the hospital’s annual Gala Day by dressing up and getting a barbecue on the go.
THREE big-hearted Ayr pupils handed over a cheque for £200 to the Strathclyde Fire Brigade Widows and Orphans Fund in September 2003. Former Newton Primary pupils Kimberley Kelly, Ashleigh Hughes and Melissa McNellie were given a guided tour of Ayr Fire Station - exactly two years on from when hundreds of American firefighters lost their lives in the World Trade Centre attacks. The girls, who had nunow moved on to Ayr Academy and Kyle Academy, raised the money by holding a raffle and bring and buy sale.
The AC Caledonian Under 11s boys said a big thank-you to David McKee and John Halbert of Quid’s In for their kind donation of team tracksuits for the new season. Sponsoring the strips, for the second year running, were local firm American Stretch Limousines.
