Who can you spot in these pictures from back in March 2009?
Angry residents from across South Ayrshire took part in a major rally against the council’s cuts and closures in March 2009. Over 3,000 people attended the protest march in a bid to get the council to u-turn on a number of closures, including the Gaiety Theatre, Girvan Swimming Pool, Dalmilling Golf Course and Tarbolton Activity Centre.
The 84th Ayrshire Music Festival began in March 2009 with two young piano stars taking the honours on the first day. Joni Gray of Coylton Primary School was first in 106 Piano Solo, while Chloe Trott of Corsehill Primary Kilwinning came first in Class 107 Piano Solo
Founder-member Grace Ramsey cut a special anniversary cake as members of the Troon Family History Society staged a special evening to celebrate their 20th anniversary in March 2009.
Annbank and St Ann’s primary pupils held a special assembly to present a cheque of £1,725.50 to Robin House in March 2009. This was in memory of a much-loved past pupil Nadia Nicol, who spent her last few weeks the Hospice, situated at Loch Lomond. The money was raised at a very successful Scottish Concert where every pupil from the nursery and both schools performed Scottish items for family, friends and the local community.
Marr College welcomed the community of Troon along to the school for a late Burns Supper in 2009. Several pupils entertained the guests with some superb music, while a group of students reciting poetry dressed in costume to add to the occasion.
Carrick Academy’s under-15 girls’ rugby side defeated Murrayfield Wanderers by 43-27 (after extra time) recently to make it through to the Scottish Cup Semi Final. The girls were simply outstanding playing against a side that they had never defeated.
