A THRIVING pakora business based in Ayr is looking to expand with a new factory.

A planning application has been lodged with South Ayrshire Council for a factory on the Heathfield Industrial Estate.

Punjab Pakora are currently making their popular selection of pakoras from Crown Street in Newton-on-Ayr.

Their goods are distributed to major retailers including Aldi, Sainsburys and Iceland.

The business, led by Vinita Duggal, husband Kushal and their three children, currently employs 42 people.

However, a move to a permanent facility would see the workforce double as the business approaches its 10th year operating in Ayr.

Ayr Advertiser:

The proposed building has been designed to integrate with the surrounding forms and comprises a simple rectangle with a pitched roof.

The main production area bounds the railway to the rear with the reception being directly off the car park to the front.

The staff facilities are in the front block with the warehouse, pallet wrap and boxing to the rear.

A supporting statement by Glasgow-based LMA Architects, lodged alongside the formal application, states: "The development will create a number of permanent local employment both during the construction phase and operation of the production plant and we hope that our client’s aspirations for the future will be shared by South Ayrshire Council."
