A NEW fun run has been organised to kick off a popular South Ayrshire village event.

The Dailly Village Fête is set to take place on Saturday, May 18, and always offers fun for all the family.

The event will host numerous stalls offering local produce and information stands, as well as entertainment for children such as bouncy castles and a ball pit.

The day will then come to a close with the eagerly anticipated duck race.

Though there will be a slight change to the event this year with the 'Dalquharran Dash and Dander' set to take place for the first time.

The event has been launched ahead of this year's fête by local family-run business We hae meat who own the Cairnhill Group.

This group was responsible 11km Dalquharran path network in November last year. The picturesque route runs through the South Ayrshire estate - and is to form the main route for the fun run.

Organised in partnership with Dailly Community Development Trust and the Dailly Community Council, the Dalquharran Dash and Dander is open to participants of all ages and abilities.

The partners are inviting community groups, families and individuals to sign up for the fun run, which will kickstart a day filled with activities, festivities and community spirit.

Participants will have the choice of either embarking on 'The Dash', a 5.5km run along the path network’s red route, or enjoying 'The Dander' – a 3.5km walk along its yellow route.

Upon completion of their chosen course, participants will be awarded a token which they can exchange for a pack of We hae meat skinny square sausages in Dailly Village during the fête.

Participation in the run is free and open to all. Registration is available online at tinyurl.com/DaillyFeteFunRun and participants are welcome to use the event as an opportunity to fundraise for their community group or a charity of their choice.

Gillian Bone, of The Cairnhill Group, said: “Since we opened it in November, the Dalquharran path network has quickly become a favourite walking and running route for locals, and what better way to make the most of the better weather than to announce our very first fun run along the paths?

"All of us at The Cairnhill Group are deeply committed to having a positive impact on our local community, so we’re honoured to be kicking off the Dailly Village Fête this year and we can’t wait to welcome everyone.”

Zanne Lyttle, Community Development Officer at the Dailly Community Development Trust, added: “The Dailly Village Fete is one of the biggest events in our community’s calendar, and we are delighted with the addition of the Dalquharran Dash and Dander to kickstart the day’s events.

"The Dalquharran paths are enjoyed widely by members of our community and the Dash and Dander offers the perfect opportunity for them to lace up their trainers and be rewarded with some square sausage!”
