Two key strategies aimed at improving services for the residents and communities of South Ayrshire have been approved.

The South Ayrshire Community Planning Partnership Board approved two strategies which will be the main focus of work for South Ayrshire Community Planning Partnership (CPP) over the next five years.

The Local Outcomes Improvement Plan (LOIP) and Child Poverty Strategy for 2024-2029 were agreed at a meeting held in Ayr Town Hall on Thursday, April 18.

Community Planning brings key partners together to improve services for the residents and communities of South Ayrshire.

The new LOIP has two high level outcomes focused on place and wellbeing, under which sit key priority areas incorporating children's services, community safety, population health, sustainability and financial inclusion and growth.

When consulted, local communities showed high levels of support for the priority areas proposed in the LOIP, and work will now begin to develop supporting action plans to take forward the priority areas.

The Child Poverty Strategy commits to doing the utmost to minimise the impact of poverty on communities, families, and especially children.

Councillor Julie Dettbarn, chair of the Community Planning Partnership's board, said: "I am delighted that the board has taken the decision to approve these two key strategies.

"This will allow us to start taking action to improve the quality of life within our area, and to commit to supporting children and families in the face of poverty."
