A Prestwick primary school has been praised by inspectors for its "supportive ethos" shared by pupils and staff.
Kingcase Primary School and Nursery Class was visited by inspectors from Education Scotland back in February.
The school opened in 1971 and has 350 within its primary classes and 55 in its nursery class.
Staff at both facilities were praised for their work, with special mention given to the headteacher, who has been in the post for one year.
The report stated: "Across the school and early years centre, highly effective senior leaders empower staff and families to contribute meaningfully to improvement and lead positive change.
"Children and families appreciate and value highly the open, collaborative and forward-thinking approach which the headteacher has inspired since taking up his post.
"There is a strong, nurturing, supportive ethos shared by children, staff and families across the school and early years centre."
However, some areas for improvement were also identified within the school.
The report added: "Across all stages of the school, children need further opportunities to extend and apply their learning in new and unfamiliar contexts. This will allow children to develop and demonstrate the depth of their learning.
"In the school and early years centre, staff should continue to develop high quality child‑centred approaches that offer the opportunity for children to lead their own learning."
Education Scotland says they are confident that the school will continue to improve, and no more visits are planned to follow up on the February inspection.
